All buildings and areas where appropriate at St. Bonaventure University have fire alarm systems that report directly to Safety and Security dispatchers, and immediately to 911.
Alarms are activated in several ways including automatic heat detection, smoke detectors, and manual pull stations, or by individuals reporting in by phone or some other method.
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) compliance guidelines for St. Bonaventure require that to ensure the utmost safety in the event of fire or the sounding of a fire alarm, impacted buildings shall be evacuated.
All campus buildings are equipped with portable fire extinguishers, and Safety and Security officers and fire department responders are trained in their use.
